Cordoba C9 Crossover Overview
The Cordoba Crossover Series C9 is a nylon-string classical guitar. This version of the C9 offers a solid Canadian Cedar top with solid mahogany back and sides, eliciting a more full-bodied, rounded sound, over C9 models fashioned with a European Spruce top. A fan bracing pattern lends the soundboard’s center a large surface area that vibrates and responds to your strings’ tension and facilitates a loud and projecting sound.
Its mahogany neck, measuring 25.6” in scale, is outfitted with a rosewood fingerboard and set to the neck in a Spanish heel joint. 19 frets are provided in total, with side-position inlays at the fifth, seventh, and ninth fret for easier visual orientation. The 4mm truss rod is accessible to ensure that your neck stays straight, and a bone nut has been employed to bolster sustain and resonance on open strings. With a radiused fingerboard, a C-shaped neck profile, and a thinner nut width when compared to other C9 models, the C9 Crossover is a suitable choice for guitarists who seek to balance the tone and sound of a well-made classical instrument with the feel of a steel-string acoustic.
You’ll find strings anchored to the body by means of an Indian rosewood bridge, and at the headstock, strings have been secured by Cordoba Silver Tuning Machines. These machines sport a gear ratio of 14:1 for precise tuning, giving you a string-roller spacing of 35mm.
Also, you’ll note accents that add to the instrument’s flavor, such as Indian rosewood binding, six-ply colored-wood top purfling, three-ply maple and ebony purfling throughout the back and sides, and a rosette inspired by a 1920s Domingo Esteso design. To ensure your instrument stays protected when not in use, a Cordoba polyfoam case is included.
